Great. As this is solved I'm going to lock the thread.

@Marylander "The emails appear to be coming from theory@votingtheory.org" -- Yes, I set that. They have to come from some e-mail address, even if it doesn't make particular sense to reply to that address. Maybe I should set up a "no-reply@votingtheory.org" address.

If I look into this, my first step will have be to update the code to the latest version.

      @Jack-Waugh @Marylander
      Sounds good to me.
Thanks for looking into it. I don't think it's time sensitive or anything, just thought I'd flag it here as a feature request.

Nice to have our categories all sorted out so clearly with a spot for these types of questions. 🙂

I haven't had much time to engage here on the forum since we launched, but I've been sending people over and it seems like there are conversations happening!

Looking forward to having more time to invest here soon.

The primary domain name votingtheory.org is coming up as well, 08-13, $14/yr.

I think that voting-theory.com (with the hyphen) and votingtheory.net are not worth renewing. Who is going to try them by mistake?

I guess if no one else steps up to keep the money accounts, I will have to start doing it. Possible payment methods: Zelle transfer service (in which some banks participate), paper check.

@rob I am now formatting the dates that are associated to the posts.

Topics used to show all the details, including creation date. I no longer show any details for them, just the title of the topic.

I believe there were no other contexts in which dates showed up, just those two.

Of course, post headers themselves show up in three contexts: posts for a topic, a single post, and search results.

This issue is resolved, or at least, alleviated, as Eric Wilhelm has SSH access to the production and backup servers.

Reporting of this supposed issue resulted from a user head-space error on my part. The text area has a handle from which it's possible to expand it.

@sarawolk said in Technical To-do List:

Ideally those two tasks would happen at the same time.

If we can get the images sooner rather than later, I might be able to get them to show up in the archive sooner, which would be useful for readers.

If we can get the updates to the posts sooner, that will also make the archive more valuable. I doubt whether anyone will be posting anything interesting to the old forum. I think just about everyone who might think to post there has had it drilled into them that that forum is supposed to be shut down and that we offer the present one as its replacement.

@jack-waugh said in Posts Not Being Noticed:

I post in the section for new proposed voting systems and variants and no one responds, neither with support, nor opposition, nor expressions that my post is confusing or ambiguous. I suspect that the reason for this is that the software is not notifying them.

I only see one recent post by you there. Maybe because the forum has low traffic?

Also, that post doesn't seem like it is serious. I don't think that is inviting to people wanting a substantive discussion.

@marylander Maybe the posts have links that point back there and your antivirus software is keying on those (even if you don't click the link)?
